On June 9, 2023 Elizabeth Virginia "Ginger" Baranoski (nee Hyle) passed away at home surrounded by her family in prayer. Ginger was an adoring and devoted wife, a wonderful and caring mother, an energetic and attentive Nana, a loving baby sister, a Catholic role-model, an active volunteer, and a patriot who lived a long life (88 years) fully centered on God and her family.
She was the beloved wife of the late Francis H. "Baron" Baranoski, Sr.; devoted mother of Francis H. Jr., Joseph A. (Katherine), John M. (Patricia), Deborah L. Dauses-Smith (William), Paul Brian, Gregory L, and Robert M. (MyVan); beloved Nana of Virginia "Ginny", David Jr. (Jodi), and Bradley (Becky) Dauses, Shannon, Michael (Jillian), Lien, Robbie, David, Emily, and Joseph Baranoski; loving great-grandmother of Lillian, Jessica, Lacey, Caroline, David III, Baron, Annabelle, Catherine and Zinnia; dear sister of Nancy Milani. She was the beloved daughter of the late Walter D. Hyle, Sr. and Elizabeth M. Hyle (nee Nevin); Preceded in death by her brothers Walter D. Hyle, Jr. (Grace) and Baby Lancelot, Sisters Audrey Taylor (Walter), and Patricia Milani (James) her son-in-law David G. Dauses Sr. and brother in-law William Milani Sr. She is also survived by a multitude of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Born in the front bedroom of 440 N. Luzerne Avenue, Ginger was the youngest of six and was a devoted daughter to her parents whom she adored. She received all of her sacraments at St. Andrew's Catholic Church where she attended school through 8th grade. A graduate of Seton High School class of 1952, she met and fell in love with Baron who asked for her hand in marriage at St. Andrew's after Mass where they later married in October of 1952. As a child, Ginger was the neighborhood babysitter, worked at Gerstung's Bakery, Old Bayshore, and Cottage Grove; volunteered at church and was everyone's favorite little sister.
Ginger was the selfless mother of seven and lived in Loch Raven Village for over 25 years. She volunteered in various capacities especially at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Baynesville: a Cub Scout den mother for Den 17, one of the "Altar Boy Ladies", a member of the IHM sodality, hosting numerous priests and seminarians at her home, supporting the Sisters of Mercy by raising money to buy them a station wagon and taking the Eucharist to the Valley View nursing home where she did many activities with the residents including her favorite Bingo! She was selfless and always put the needs of others before herself. The family moved to Joppa in 1980 where she continued to serve the Church at her new parish St. Stephen's Bradshaw Catholic Church where one of her favorite things to do, besides attending Mass, was to run the Tear-off Ticket booth at the annual carnival which she did for over 40 years. When the love of her life Baron, her husband of 36 years, became ill she didn't hesitate to take care of him around the clock in their home until his death in 1988.
She was the most amazing Nana, at the young age of 44 she became a grandmother and what a wonderful, giving, fun loving Nana she was. She had a true servants heart, stopping to make sure each of her grands and great-grands were loved and prayed for.
Ginger was a devout Catholic. She prayed the liturgy of the hours daily from her Magnificat, said the Rosary daily (even multiple times a day) and was 'friends' with many of the Saints. Her devotion to the Eucharist and the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Immaculate Heart of Mary was contagious. She made people want to be closer to Jesus by just watching her live her life.
She enjoyed many things, first and foremost the Catholic Church, her family, vacations at the beach with her family, Sunday morning pancakes with polish sausage, banana splits, playing cards, cruising, a quick trip to the casino, playing board games, singing songs, swimming in the pool, baking cookies, talk radio, midnight snacks, cooking and hosting her entire family for the holidays, and traveling; but these things didn't matter to her unless her family was by her side.
Most of all our Mother/Nana asked all of us: "To remember her when remembering means the most, especially when receiving the tiny white Host, Jesus". Please join us in remembering our Mother, Nana and sister at Schimunek Funeral Home of Bel Air Inc., 610 W. MacPhail Rd. Bel Air, MD 21014, on Sunday, June 18th 2-4pm and 6-8pm. (7:30pm Rosary) A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11am on Monday, June 19th at St. Stephen Catholic Church (Bradshaw). Interment will follow at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens.
