Elizabeth Delores Johnson, age 88, beloved by all, passed away peacefully at home in Hagerstown, MD on May 6th, 2022. She was surrounded by love ones after battling Dementia for years. Elizabeth was born to George Dilley and Katherine Brown of Baltimore, on 28 June 1933, and was married for 45 years to her late husband, William Dempsey Johnson, in 1951.
Elizabeth was a dedicated home-maker and loving mother to her seven children. Elizabeth looked forward to shopping, playing bingo, and going on Atlantic City casino bus trips with her mother and sister. She loved to tell good-natured stories about her younger childhood and adult life. Some of these memories are already put into a story-book. Elizabeth loved to cook and it was always a treat to visit and eat her delicious meals. Elizabeth never had a bad word to say against anyone, so cherished and nurturing to everyone who walked through her door. Elizabeth always provided such kindness with a great heart of special care-giving and comfort. She was so respected.
Elizabeth was a mother of 7 children, 3 sons, and 4 daughters; and preceded by her oldest daughter, Gail Ann. Elizabeth’s surviving siblings include her eldest son, William Johnson II, her dedicated care-giver over the last 25+ years following the passing of husband, Dempsey in 1996. In addition, Elizabeth is survived by her next oldest son, Kenneth, and her daughters, Kathy Gendimenico, Venida Gunzelman (husband Mark), and Ruby Baer (husband Douglas, Jr.), and youngest son, Johnny.
Elizabeth had 2 sisters and 3 brothers. She is preceded by Venida Dalton, George Dilley, Conrad Ramsey, and Ronald Brown, and survived by Elsie Blackburn (husband Kenneth). Elizabeth had 25 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and few great-great grandchildren.
