Ellen Sandra Horak, age 83, of Abingdon, Maryland passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2022. Beloved wife of the late Martin George Horak; devoted mother of Suzanne E. Thomas, John J. Horak and his wife Angela and the late William M. Horak; loving mom mom of William James Horak and his wife Brittney, Caitlin Christina Hosenfeld and her husband William, Claire Elizabeth Wildasin and her husband Cory, Anna Tarlton Bowman and her fiance Zachary Cianciulli, Ella Marie Thomas, Abigail May Horak and Madeline Rose Horak; cherished great-grandmother of William Daniel Horak, Sophia Lynn Horak, Miles Daniel Wildasin, Gabriel Martin Cianciulli and Jerry Robert Hosenfeld. Ellen was a teacher for many years at Notre Dame Prep and was known as the "Dragon Lady", but was loved by all.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at Schimunek Funeral Home of Bel Air on Monday from 3-5 and 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 am at St. John (Hydes) the Evangelist Catholic Church. Interment St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. John the Evangelist School, 1311 Long Green Pike, Hydes, MD 21082, the money raised will go to the pre-school playground where Ellen's great-grandchildren will eventually play.
