

On June 2, 2017, Francis Mullen surrounded by his family passed away peacefully after battling cancer and renal failure. Devoted husband of Janet Mullen; loving father of Victoria Ruffing, Michele Mullen, Alicia Takacs, Shawn Walbrecher and her husband Kevin, and preceded in death by one son: Jeffrey Mullen; also survived by 7 grandchildren: Claire Cathcart and her husband Nate, Meredith Daloni and her husband Michael, Stephanie Takacs, Shelby Iagnemmo, Kevin Walbrecher, Kathryn Takacs, and Catherine Walbrecher. Two great-grandchildren: Lukas Helmuth and Winifred Daloni.
As a young man, Francis served in the Army during the Korean War. He then began his family in 1957 when he married the love of his life, Janet, in Washington, D.C. He worked as a Stevedore to support his family and was able to retire at age 55. In his spare time he enjoyed dancing, diving, traveling, spending time with family and friends, working in the yard and relaxing around the pool. His life of service and generosity, and his kind spirit will live in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Relatives and friends may gather at Schimunek Funeral Home of Bel Air, Inc. 610 W MacPhail Rd. Bel Air, MD 21014 on Tuesday 3-5 pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mark Church on Wednesday at 10 am. Interment Highview Memorial Gardens followed by reception at St. Mark Church.
