Gabrielle Killian-Sears was born with a special glow about her. She was vivacious, charming, and feisty. She was a beautiful, intelligent girl who dazzled everyone who met her. She was Gabrielle, Goob, Sissy, Elle, Gabby, and mama. She was a beloved daughter, a loving sister, and a vibrant friend. But above all else, she was an incredible and passionate mother who irrevocably loved and adored her son Sebastian.
Despite experiencing many hardships at the hands of addiction, Gabrielle fought and worked fiercely to become healthy for her son; she did everything for him, and in doing so she was able to leave the world having gotten back that special glow.
Gabrielle is survived by her son Sebastian, who she gave everything for and who gave her a second chance at life; her mother Tami and her father Shawn, who never stopped fighting for her; her sisters Gisselle (partner Cody), Bella, and Olivia (partner Arthur); her grandmother Sandi; her many great aunts, great uncles, and cousins from the Alvarez family; and the many other people who she considered family.
To Sebastian, who will one day read this: no one loved or wanted anything more than your mother loved and wanted you. Being your mama was her greatest joy and her life’s greatest accomplishment. You always have been and always will be immensely loved and cherished.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to Sebastian’s college fund which was started by Gabrielle when all she had to add were coins; she saved every one for him. Donations can be sent via Venmo to @tamisears and will be deposited into a 529 college fund.
Even in the darkness of Gabrielle’s disease she had a light about her, and that is the part we keep. Addiction is a disease. It can happen to anyone; even in your own neighborhood, even in your own family, even in your own home. If you are struggling from addiction, know that hundreds of thousands of families who have lost someone to this disease are rooting for you.
In loving memory of Gabrielle, who lived more vibrantly and fought more fiercely than most ever knew. Our beautiful glowing girl.
