Uncle Gary was truly one of a kind! His spirit was humble, soul beautiful, and intentions pure. During the last time I saw him, he immediately displayed a huge smile when he saw me, told me how grown up & beautiful I looked (always striking a compliment) and fondly recalled our last time together. His memory did not skip a beat! 

Of course it wasn’t long until he cracked a joke, making the room laugh as usual. His humor was always a welcome characteristic, and I see it live on in my brother. 

I am lucky to have known him and be able call him my Uncle. I thank him for how much he loved my mom, his sister, and for sharing childhood memories of them during our last time together. It is a time I will cherish dearly. I am at ease knowing his recent pain is finally at rest, and that he may now live in eternal peace. Rest in Paradise Uncle Gary — until we meet again. 

I have many great memories of my Uncle Gary. We went to many races together and just him being there made it fun. Hanging out with him was always quality time. Even in a serious moment, Gary could just crack a joke which lit up the room, and totally change the mood. This was one of the best things about him. He knew not to take life so seriously and enjoy the ride, and I often think the same way. Not only did we think outside the box together, but we tore it up with humor. I will miss my “Gare Bear” uncle, and I am better for having had known and loved him.

Our story-
 We met in the night club, Rascals. He was such a good dancer. Our first date was wallpapering my kitchen. He was good at that too. I treated us to pizza. 
 He loved westerns, John Wayne and Clint Eastwood. 
 He said the best gift I ever gave him was his pug puppy, Sleigh bell. He worked as a volunteer with Pets on Wheels going to the Assisted Living with her. 
 My Gary was strong and funny.  Good hearted.  I saw him fix a leaky pipe once he broke into the wall with his fist and just fixed it. And I was truly amazed.  A man of strong faith he prayed every night. 
I am going to miss my Gary,  there is no one like him. 

My brother Gary is a loving and humble man with a heart of gold. I have witnessed in him such determination, hope, endurance, strength, and immense faith. And of course, we cannot forget that beautiful trademark sense of humor that is at the core of his character. 
Gary, I am proud of you and honored to have you as my brother. God has called you home now, and I am grateful and assured that you are surrounded by joy and love, including lost love. I will hold onto our unbreakable bond tightly in my heart and soul. Mike and I will miss our “quarterly meetings” and our frequent touch base talks. This isn’t goodbye, but rather we’ll see you later.

Gary was a volunteer with Pets on Wheels with his beloved dog  Sleigh bell.  He loved visiting the residents at Hummingbird Assisted Living with her.
