

Gerald Walter Kearney, Sr., 89, of Joppa, MD, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2023. Gerald was the beloved husband of 54 years to Catherine Ann (nėe Caldwell) and a devoted father to Gerald Walter, Jr. (Shelissa), Maryann Durst (David), and Maureen. He adored his two grandchildren, Megan and Gerald (Traigh) III, and his many nieces, nephews and family members. He is preceded in death by his two brothers, James and Frank.
Gerry was born September 2, 1933, to the late Martin F. and Margaret M. (nėe Parks) in Pittston, Pennsylvania. He was a graduate of the former St. Johns High School in Pittston. He accepted a football scholarship to attend King's College in Wilkes-Barre. While earning his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1956, and went on to help build the Northeast extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike. Gerry also enlisted in the Army Reserves. For the next 35 years, he had a successful career as an electrical equipment salesperson.
Gerry was a season ticket holder of The Washington Redskins for nearly 60 years. He enjoyed attending football games and loved rooting for them on television. He always enjoyed traveling to new places, meeting new people, and treating himself to a bowl of ice cream. He valued his faith, family, Irish roots, and dear friendships.
A Memorial Mass to celebrate Gerry's life will be held at St. Stephens Catholic Church in Kingsville, MD, on Saturday, March 25th, 2023, at 11:00 a.m.
