Howard Gordon Bingel, Sr., of Baltimore, Maryland, died peacefully on Friday, March 29, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Howard was the son of the late Frank and Mary Bingel and brother to seven siblings.
Howard grew up in Baltimore, Maryland, and moved to Havre de Grace, Maryland, in 1999. He and his wife Alice were married for 68 years and had four children. Through the years he and Alice traveled the world – he often said he was invited only to carry Alice’s suitcases. One of his favorite pastimes was playing cards with friends and family.
Howard worked for B & P Motor Express and later for Tate Auto Sales. He retired at age 55 and developed an interest in cooking. He was famous for his homemade chocolate-chocolate cake and his Bingel burgers.
His greatest love, however, was his family. He is survived by his devoted wife Alice, his four children, Howard Gordon Bingel, Jr., and his wife Cindy, Shari Nelson and her husband Brian, Kathi Bruzdzinski and her husband Michael, and Lauri Dinan and her husband Thomas. He cherished his grandchildren Christopher Bingel and his wife Jeanette, Michael Bruzdzinski, Jr., and his wife Stefanie, Matthew Nelson and his wife Carly, Justin Bruzdzinski and his wife Jessica, Allen Dinan, Emily Wittman and her husband Kyle, Tyler Dinan and his wife Samantha, Andrew Nelson and his wife Jenna, Sarah Nelson and Katelyn Dinan. A true highlight in his later years were his great-grandchildren Kayla, Kiera, Owen, Evelyn, Theodore, Abigail and Madeline. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and extended family who loved him dearly.
A celebration of Howard’s life will be held on June 1, 2024, at the North Point – Edgemere Volunteer Fire Department, 7500 North Point Road, Edgemere, Maryland, 21219, from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m.
