

Jim was born on April 28, 1940 in Altoona, Pennsylvania. He was the fifth of six children born to Joseph and Caroline Cooney. He graduated from Altoona High School and California State College. He married Theresa Cooney the love of his life on June 24, 1967. They celebrated 53 years of marriage together. Jim and Terri were parents and providers for many children in life. They had ten children nine of whom were adopted and took guardianship of another. In addition, they fostered children for many years and helped out many others. Jim worked most of his career as a teacher for the Baltimore County School system. He taught Wood working, technology education, and math. Many of his long-time friends in life were fellow teachers and administrators. Jim loved to foster life. He loved gardening, planting trees, building projects, and caring for people. Jim and Terri fostered 8 newborns and embraced children of all races and backgrounds. He was a quiet man who could build or fix nearly anything. Jim was a man of deep faith who embraced Christ over 40 years ago. He had a long and faithful journey. Jim believed that after he passed he would be more alive than ever. He walked into the arms of Jesus and eternal life at 3 am on November 30th. His life and love touched many.
