On July 31, 2018 James William Street, Sr. beloved husband of 61 years of Nina R. Street (nee Duvall); devoted father of James William Street, Jr. and his wife Debbie, and Deborah D. Lynch and her husband Richard; dear brother of Nona Mooney and the late Sylvia Cline; loving grandfather of Jacob William Street and Jonathan William Duvall; also survived by 3 great granddaughters and many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Born in Besoco, West Virginia, Jim Street’s life revolved around serving others. At the age of 18, Jim entered the United States Army, training with the 101st Airborne in order to become part of the Army’s Military Police. It was while in the Army that he met his wife, Nina, who also served in the United States Army. After being honorably discharged, Jim entered the Baltimore City Fire Department, and over his 32 years of service, he helped countless individuals and received multiple commendations and awards. Jim retired from the Baltimore City Fire Department in 1989 at the rank of Captain. In 1978, Jim also began donating platelets every two weeks at the Johns Hopkins Hemapheresis Center to help children with leukemia. By 1994, Jim had donated over 100 times.
Jim loved traveling, working around his home and gardens, and playing golf and cards. Jim’s quick wit and gentle spirit made him a favorite among friends and relatives, and he forever touched the lives of everyone he met.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Ignatius Church 533 E. Jarrettsville Rd. Forest Hill, MD 21050 on Monday at 11 AM. Interment Holly Hill Memorial Gardens.
