Jessica Sabater Santos

Jessica “Jay” Sabater Santos was born on October 11, 1955, in Cavite City, Philippines, to Dolores Beruete and Jacinto Sabater. After completing her studies, Jay pursued a life in the United States, seeking her version of the American dream and building a life filled with opportunity, love, and purpose alongside her husband.

Jay enjoyed a successful career in medicine, serving patients and communities through her work in at Bon Secours Hospital, Johns Hopkins Hospital, and DaVita Institute. Her dedication, professionalism, and compassion left a lasting impression on those who worked with her.

In 2008, Jay retired early and devoted herself fully to her family and her relationship with Jehovah God. In 2013, her husband joined her in retirement, and together they spent their years focused on faith, family, and the people they loved most.

Affectionately known as “Mama Jay” and “Ate Jay,” she will be remembered as feisty, charismatic, opinionated, brilliant, and encouraging. Jay approached life with ambition, courage, and determination, inspiring her sons to do the same. Her wisdom, strength, and unwavering support shaped the lives of those around her.

Jay found peace in knowing she had built a remarkable community of family, friends, and colleagues whom she cherished deeply. Her warmth, generosity, and enduring faith created lasting bonds that will continue to be felt for years to come.

Jay is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Romeo Santos; her sons, Jerome (Gladys) Santos and Pee Jay Romell (Thomas Mars) Santos; her granddaughter, Jillian Santos; and her beloved family dogs, Maggie and Donut.

The family warmly invites relatives and friends to celebrate Jay’s life on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Schimunek Funeral Home, 610 W. MacPhail Road, Bel Air, Maryland.

A remembrance service will begin at 6:00 p.m., followed by a short prayer and a family-style dinner on-site.

Jay’s legacy of faith, love, strength, and devotion to family will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
