Joanne Mary Philipovich

Joanne Mary Philipovich, known lovingly as Joanne, passed away on September 11, 2026, in Bel Air, Maryland, following an accident. She was born on February 5, 1945, in Baltimore, and lived a life marked by kindness, warmth and generosity that touched all who knew her.

Joanne was the beloved daughter of the late Anna R. Philipovich and the late Peter S. Philipovich. She carried the values of her family with her throughout her life, and those who knew her will remember the quiet strength, warmth, and grace with which she met each day. Her life was rooted in faith, and her Christian beliefs were an important part of the way she lived, loved, and cared for others.

A devoted student and lifelong learner, Joanne earned her bachelor’s degree in Education, a field that reflected both her love of learning and her desire to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. She went on to dedicate her career to teaching English in Baltimore County high schools, where she inspired generations of students with her patience, intelligence, and encouragement.

Joanne was a woman of many interests and a deep appreciation for the world around her. As a young adult, she loved to travel and found joy in discovering new places and experiences. She was an avid reader who valued the comfort and imagination found in books, and she enjoyed the theater, where stories came to life in a different and vibrant way. She enjoyed her daily walks taking in nature’s beauty, chatting with neighbors and just jamming to tunes. She had a fondness for the music of Queen, whose energy and artistry brought her pleasure over the years. Time spent at the beach was especially dear to her, offering her peace, reflection, and happiness in the beauty of the shore.

Those who knew Joanne will remember her as sweet and kind. She approached life with curiosity and courage, and her kindness was felt in her words, her actions, and her presence.

She will be dearly missed and forever remembered with love and gratitude.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the St. Margaret Church, 141 N. Hickory Ave, Bel Air, MD 21014, on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, from 9:30 to 10:00 AM and mass will start at 10:00 AM. Inurnment will follow at the Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
