Born in November 1957 in San Diego, California, Joy was the daughter of Marvin and Dolores Salomon, and sister to Lynda Besanko, all of whom preceded her in death. Her father, Marvin, was a proud Naval Academy graduate who earned high honors.
Joy dedicated her life to helping others. As a social worker with her own private practice, she supported countless individuals and families throughout her career. The impact she had on those she supported is immeasurable, and the love, gratitude, and respect they carry for her stands as a testament to her compassion and strength.
Above all, Joy was a devoted mother. She is survived by her daughter, Ericka Williamson, the absolute joy of her life, who followed in her footsteps and became a social worker as well . Their bond was deep, unwavering, and central to who Joy was. She was also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who will miss her dearly.
Joy’s legacy is one of kindness, resilience, and wholehearted devotion to others. Her light will continue to shine in the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
A celebration of Joy’s life will be held on Sunday January 18th 2026 1-4pm at The Manor House. 600 Squire Ln. Bel Air, MD 21014
