

She was the beloved wife of the late Robert E. Bauer; devoted mother of Julia E. O’Hara, Thomas J. O’Hara and his wife Lori, and Roseann O’Hara Griffin and her husband Frank; loving grandmother of Megan J. Boyer and her husband James L., Thomas P. O’Hara and his wife Alexis B., Emma C. Berk, Colleen G. Berk, Nicholas R. Griffin, and Grace O’Hara Griffin; cherished great-grandmother of Brooke A. O’Hara, Hailey B. O’Hara, Taylor P. O’Hara, Emily J. Boyer, and James L. Boyer III; and dear sister of Janet E. Rosso and her husband Joseph, John E. Hand, and the late Joan H. Siney and June M. Hand. Joyce was blessed with a large extended family including Dorothea M. O'Hara, Charles P. O'Hara, and many nieces and nephews.
Joyce attended Catholic school throughout her education and graduated from Seton High School as a member of the Class of 1960. She worked as a Bookkeeper and Office Manager for Tamarack Construction Company for more than thirty years and was instrumental in the company's success. An exceptional multitasker, Joyce skillfully balanced her career while raising her young family.
Deeply devoted to her Catholic faith, Joyce translated her beliefs into a lifetime of service to others. She generously volunteered with Meals on Wheels, Toys for Tots, and numerous organizations that supported the elderly and infirmed. She was also a devoted caregiver to her younger sister, June, who had Down syndrome, always ensuring her well-being and providing her with loving care.
Known affectionately as "Mug," Joyce treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She created lasting memories with them and took immense pride in their accomplishments. One of her greatest joys was supporting her grandchildren by visiting them at college, attending concerts and swim meets, and helping with routine school pickups.Through both her words and actions, she encouraged her family's Catholic faith and demonstrated the importance of kindness, generosity, and service.
Joyce had a special love for animals, especially her beloved dogs Bananas, Baby, Beachie, and Sophie. She enjoyed walking her dogs, watching the Baltimore Ravens, spending time at the beach, decorating, boating, hosting parties, water aerobics, reading, traveling, shopping, and the occasional trip to the casino.
Joyce was known for her honesty and straightforward nature, and those who knew her loved her for it. She never let the grass grow under her feet and lived a full, active, and exciting life, embracing every opportunity and adventure that came her way. Above all else, family was at the center of her world. Her love, faith, generosity, humor, and unwavering support will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Schimunek Funeral Home, Inc., 610 W MacPhail Rd. Bel Air, MD 21014 on Sunday, June 7, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
Christian Mass will be held on Monday, June 8, 2026, at 10:00 AM, at St. Francis de Sales, 1450 Abingdon Rd, Abingdon, MD 21009. Interment will be private.
