A good guy with a good heart. Loved his kids and Grandkids and was so proud of Garrett and Abi and the rest. Wondered why I had not received an email from you in awhile Lance, now I know. You did good and went out just like you said you would, hoped you would, one day ... peacefully - in control until the end. Sincerest condolences to your family. Your unique take on things will be missed.

I had the pleasure of meeting Lance in Florida shortly after he moved here! I met him at merchant metals fence supply, I was asking questions I had no idea what I was doing! Out of no where this big lightly grey haired man came up when no one wanted to help me and  answered every question I had! At that time he was working by himself and wanted to know if I wanted to do some jobs with him! After that I was with him every day for the next 3 or so years! That man was like a father to me not only did I learn everything about fencing I learned everything about being a man! He was without question the best person I ever met in my life! He was more of a father to me than my own father! He was larger than life the absolute funniest person in the world! everybody and I mean EVERYBODY like him!! In his 60's he out work anybody around including me in my 20's I thought he was immortal he could do anything with his hands!! About 2 years ago I helped him and his son Garrett load up his trucks and he was gone that would be the last time I saw Lance John Gilman! I promised him I'd come up and see him a promise I would never for-fill, I wish I had! I would not be the man I am today if I had not met that man!! He'd always tell me "SON you can't leave that like, that will show like a snake with shoes" hahaha sometimes I'd do things just so he would say that! Man I'm gonna miss pops!! Love you buddy! I know I'm late but better than never I found out yesterday!! That Crushed me!! I could never put in word how much I loved that man!

I want to give my condolences to the family, he was a very good man, he help us in a very bad time in our life the only person who came to our rescue, dad I wish had more time to repay all you did for us, you will be in our hearts always and I promise we will look after Janet.

Poppa,  you will be dearly missed. Will think of you always whenever I hear the PA sound off " Saws. Customer assistance needed at saws. Second request."  Only you could take an "Ooops!" and make someone smile about it. Those of us who worked with you at the Depot are better people because of you. Bask in the glow of His Everlasting Love. Though I haven't seen Lance all these many years, I'm so very sorry to hear of his passing and extend sincere condolences to his loving family. They say you never forget your first kiss. I'll always think of Lance with a smile and a sigh. We were slow dancing to "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes" at an 8th grade party from Christ The King school. It's true—you never forget. He was cute, funny and outrageous. Most classmates called him "Gilly". Rest in Peace Lance, and thanks for the memories.
