Margaret Thornton Martin

Margaret was born on June 14, 1935 in Brownsville, PA. She resided there for many years before moving to Virginia and later Maryland. Margaret was a dedicated employee of Monumental Insurance and Mercantile Bank until the time of her retirement. She loved to travel, shop, and try new restaurants. Most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially on Christmas Eve which was her favorite holiday.

Margaret was the beloved daughter of the late Mary and William Skillcorn; cherished wife of the late John Thornton Jr. and the late Bernie Martin. She was the adored mother of the late Sherre Taylor and her husband Bill; Linda Buscemi and her husband Tom; John Thornton III and his wife Liz; and Bill Thornton and his wife Sandy; Devoted grandmother (Gram) of Brad Anderson and his wife Erin; Trisha Stiles and her husband Jason; John Thornton IV and his wife Sabrina; Lauren Chavez and her husband Jake; Jacquelyn Price and her husband Brian; Tori Thornton; Griffin Thornton; Emily Thornton; Madison Thornton; and Andrew Beckett; Loving Great Grandmother to Jordan Chavez; Logan Stiles; Fair Thornton; Declan Anderson; Rowan Price; Palmer Anderson; and Tyler Stiles. Dear sister of Sue Erb and her husband Jim; Frances Straight; Wilma Leiberman; and Bill Skillcorn and his wife Lorena; Loving aunt and great-aunt to many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service to celebrate Margaret’s life will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 29th at the Church of St. Patrick, 615 Congress Avenue, Havre de Grace, MD.
