On May 24, 2026, Margaret H. Ray (née Heilman) passed away peacefully. She was the beloved wife of the late John L. Ray; devoted mother of Michael L. Ray and his wife Jennifer, and Patrick L. Ray and his wife Sherri; loving grandmother of Shannon Ray (Steven), Morgan Alvey (Jason), Patrick Ray (Rachel), Alexander Ray, and Nicholas Ray (Mackenzie); and cherished great-grandmother of River, Adley, Hayes, and Lena. She was also a dear sister to the late Elmer Heilman, Elizabeth “Betty” Pinkas, Rosemarie Smith, Doris Rampello, and Charles Heilman.
Margaret’s life was defined by deep love for her family, and she found her greatest joy in being surrounded by those she held most dear. In particular, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were truly the light of her life. She cherished every moment spent with them and remained actively and lovingly involved in their lives. Their laughter, milestones, and everyday joys brought her immeasurable happiness, and she took great pride in their accomplishments and in the people they were becoming. The bond she shared with each of them was rooted in unconditional love, warmth, and devotion, and the memories they created together will remain a lasting reflection of the love that defined her life.
The family invites those attending Margaret’s mass to celebrate her life by wearing bright colors or floral attire. Her love of vibrant colors and flowers reflected the joy, warmth, and kindness she shared so freely with others, and the family hopes this tribute will honor her memory in a meaningful way. Traditional attire is also welcome.
A Christian Mass will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026, at 10:00 AM, at St. Francis de Sales, 1450 Abingdon Rd, Abingdon, MD 21009. Inurnment will follow.
