Marianna Kilmer Mahaney

Marianna was born on December 15, 1948, at Kapiolani Maternity Hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Arthur William Kilmer and Regina Alexandra Kilmer (Wasielewski). She attended St. John’s Catholic Academy in Syracuse, New York, and graduated with the Class of 1966. Following high school, she attended D’Youville College in Buffalo, New York; Marquette University; and Western Michigan University.

Marianna spent much of her life caring for others—both people and animals. She worked as a critical care technician at Fallston General Hospital and Upper Chesapeake Medical Center, and she also volunteered as a paramedic with the Bel Air Fire Department. She was a longtime foster through Chesapeake Bay Retriever Relief and Rescue and never met an animal she didn’t love. Over the years, she fostered many dogs and, on more than one occasion, adopted the ones no one else wanted—giving them the loving home they deserved. Her dedication, strength, and steady presence made her someone others could always count on.

Marianna enjoyed working in the yard of her beloved home, caring for her dogs, spending time with her family, and relaxing on the porch of her condo in Garden City, South Carolina. She will be deeply missed and remembered for her strength, compassion, and the quiet but unwavering love she had for her family.

Marianna was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Michael Mahaney. She is survived by her daughter, Maren Letten (Ashley), and son, Ian A. Mahaney; grandchildren Kaitlyn (David), Elizabeth (Steven), William, Carleigh, and Preston; great-grandchildren Alyce, Benjamin, and Theodore; sisters Deborah Toth (Rudy), Val Kilmer, and Carolyn Shannon; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit at Schimunek Funeral Home of Bel Air, Inc., 610 W. MacPhail Rd., Bel Air, MD 21014, on October 14, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. A funeral service will follow at the same location.
