I met her in 1976 when I was 4 years old. I was in her dance classes until I was almost 14. Started liking boys ugh. I absolutely love dance It gave me a light in my dark childhood. My father committed suicide when I was three and my mom was a go-go dancer. I was home alone a lot and I grew up around a lot of drugs. When I came to class it was like I came to a whole different world. She was kind and loving unlike what I was getting at home.  It was a beautiful escape and I love music and dance still. I wish I would have stayed in her class longer. But I was young and immature and didn't have a lot of direction. I just really appreciate her and I have thought about her so much through the years. I used to think that she looks like Wonder woman. Specifically the actress that was Wonder woman back then. She was so beautiful and I wanted to grow up to be like her. I am 53 and I still think about her. I believe that she gave me compassion and warm that I might not have known. So I definitely pass that on. I'm so sorry I just found out. I actually googled her name. Bless you all.

She was my first dance instructor when I was a young child when I was 6/7 years old and then she retired. She was a great instructor. She is always missed.

Marie Frank Dance was the best I danced with her company for 12 years and miss it. Her husband and son were so nice. She was a remarkable person. She will be missed.

I had the pleasure and honor of being a Marie Frank Dancer for many years and still very fondly remember my time in her classes.  I recall always looking so forward to the recitals and all the joy it brought us all.  You were an angel on earth that I will always hold close to my childhood.  God bless you as you dance among the angels in Heaven.

Marie made many a little Essex girls dreams come true! She is a wonderful memory in my chaotic childhood. She was so much to so many. What a legacy to leave. Here’s to dreams lived! May she dance among the stars now

Mrs. Marie was my dance teacher from 3 to 18 years old. She was the best dance teacher and I now realize how she gave me the nurture and love I so desperately needed in my life at the time. She was always there at every class and I knew when recital night came she would be in that right corner backstage smiling and dancing with us, calling out each step. It's wasn't until  now that she has passed that I've realized how God used her to  give me love, nurture and stability.  And not only that but she built within me confidence.  I've continued to dance and choreograph, and teach dance through the years and just recently performed at my church with our dance group. I'm proud to say my daughter, Harmony dances as well and has since she was 3. She is now 17.  We have done  many dances together including the most recent one a few weeks ago.  Dancing will always be in our lives.

I was a "Marie Frank" dancer for many years.  Johnny was born and  was routinely at the schools where Ms. Marie taught dance until Mr. John picked him up after work.  Our Sussex dance group went to many dance conferences and performed in many places throughout Baltimore.  Ms. Marie developed my personal love for dance and music at a young age and I was always amazed to watch how she was so attentive to each child in her classes.  Her students' success was her own success story in so many ways.  Ms. Marie was always there to help me through difficult situations in high school.  Her passion for dance was contagious and I will miss her loving smile and the talent for dance that she selflessly shared  in fondest memories forever.  I love you, Ms. Marie!  I know that you must be dancing in heaven with my friend, Donna Wienecke! 

Miss Marie has played a big part in all of our lives.  She will be greatly missed.  

Ms. Marie was a one of a kind woman, mom, friend & mentor.  You will truly be missed - thank you for giving of yourself in every way possible. Mrs Marie was my teacher when I was younger both my brother and cousin was part of her dancers as well.  Our condolences to the family she was a great teacher.  She will be missed.

Miss Marie has been part of my life since I was 4 years old. She was much more than a dance instructor to me; she was a mentor and a friend.

Over the years, we communicated and would occasionally see each other.  Our conversations centered around family, religion and dance. 

The last time we spoke she told me not to worry, that she was ok. 

Her finesse in instructing students of dance in  a recreation based program was comparable to rival private studios, as evidenced by the many Student Review performances with NADAA. 

Her kindness to others is a reflection not only of her upbringing but also her Catholic faith. There are numerous examples of her kindness-those reading this will think of one dear to them. 

She had many great qualities, including her quirky sense of humor. She often used humor to diffuse otherwise awkward circumstances.

I cannot imagine how many lives she has touched.  I can state emphatically that she was such a treasure to know and love. She brought so many people together, forging life long friendships. 

My heart is heavy but I am comforted knowing that she is dancing in Heaven with Mr. John.

You, Mr Frank and your son were part of every little dancers life when I was a kid.  Everyone wanted to be a Marie Frank Dancer.  Your recitals were nothing short of perfect and never to be topped.  You are a truly legacy.  May you rest in peace.

i took dance lessons from Miss Marie for over 15 years of my young life in Essex MD (late 60's - 80's) She was so nice and patience with all of us with our ballet, jazz & tap lessons. She taught us to be such beautiful young ladies doing the art that we all loved. It was a pleasure having Her as a teacher and friend. I haven't stopped dancing and i still dance today in an Adult Jazz, Ballet & Tap class. I have to thank Miss Marie for all of my years of dancing and fancing now. I will miss Her alot. Now She can dance with Mr John in heaven. I send my condolences to the Family of Miss Marie.

Miss Marie was a amazing women. She touch so many peoples life . She had a smile on her face and a bow in her hair.

I was one of her first students. She shared a studio with her father. She taught dance in the city rec. .The kids couldn’t afford costumes. My Aunt Marge ,Aunt Cas and my Mom made costumes out of crepe paper. We would go to hospitals with her dad and preform.

I was her first student teacher. I was with her 6 days a week with Baltimore County Rec. I helped with program, floats, and everything else.
 
I love you. 

She was my first ballet teachers when I was 5 or 6. What a wonder teacher! Rest in peace. My condolences to her friends and family.

RIP to a fabulous lady. I worked backstage at many a recital and worked on several of the " I Am an American Day Parade" floats and even marched in a couple of them. She always had a kind word and always thanked me for helping. I will miss her.
                                                                                             

Marie was a great friend and neighbor.  She always sent a kind note when we shared a meal and cupcakes with her.  She also enjoyed watching our July 4th fireworks. 

There really aren’t enough words to express my love, respect & thankfulness to have had Miss Marie in my life. So many memories I treasure of her & Mr John & Johnny & our Marie Frank Dancers Family. She was the most giving & loving teacher, mentor & lady..a true blessing to us all🙏🏻❤️Much love & prayers to Johnny & Family & the many friends & students Miss Marie touched throughout the years💖

Marie was the sweetest, kindest person.  She was dating my father-in-law and no matter what the holiday, we could expect a knock on the door and she would drop off gifts for my kids - Valentine's,  Easter, birthdays - she never missed one!  Always a smile on her face no matter how she felt.  And always a matching bow in her hair to go with her outfit!   She will be missed dearly by all of us.

1970 ish. We won 1st place in the Crisfield Crab Derby boat parade.   We would spend weeks before making the decorations, then decorating the boat just like a parade float and we’d all get to ride on it in costume. Such a fun time and great memory!

Miss Marie was an amazing woman.  There aren't even words to describe how much I looked up to her.  She was wonderful role model to so many young ladies.  She will be missed by so many.

Ms Marie was most definitely one of a kind. She was a a great teacher who inspired so many people. I teach today in BCPS schools as a Pre/ Kindergarten teacher and I dance in the classroom everyday. 
I danced from 4-17  Yrs old as a Marie Frank dancer and still love to dance today. I’m working on being certified as a Zumba instructor at Merritt Club in White Marsh. 
Mr John will be so excited for the reunion with his love ❤️

Ms Marie was a huge part of my childhood … so many wonderful memories dancing with her. This photo is from 1965 ish in Ocean City, MD … dancing in the then bandstand on the boardwalk. She was such a positive influence on me. I remember wanting to be just like her.  She’s dancing with the angels now. 

Miss Marie is the hero of my childhood.  She was the adult who showed up week after week to not only teach ballet and tap but to show little girls (mostly) that there could be creativity and beauty in good old Essex, Maryland. With many of us coming from from homes with less than optimal situations, she was a kind, funny, smart grown up we could count on.  She is the reason I went to New York for the first time.  She never made me feel bad for being a fat kid. At one class she told us her whole name was Marie Ethel Agnes Groll Frank.  I still remember that to this day.  And I still remember how good it felt to be around her.  Thank you Miss Marie!
