January 3, 1940February 13, 2021

Marjory L. Groene Kennedy, age 81, of Bel Air passed away peacefully on Saturday February 13, 2021 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center after a brief illness. Born in Joliet, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Linus F. and Marguerite McGrath Groene. She lived in Illinois before moving to Bel Air in 1974. Except for a few years of living in Tennessee, Bel Air was her home.

While there were many special days in her life, May 28, 1966, was her most memorable for it was the day she married her best friend, John “Jack” B. Kennedy. They were married 48 years before Jack’s death in 2014.

After retiring from the Harford County Office on Aging, she became a long time member of the Harford County Advisory Board on Aging. She greatly valued her time working with the seniors of Harford County.

She is survived by her four children, Arthur Kennedy of Bel Air, Larry Kennedy and wife Shannon of Gloucester, VA, Pam DeGraffenreid and husband James of Knoxville, TN, and David Kennedy and wife Lisa of Bel Air; eight grandchildren, Jake, TJ, Nate, Ella, Frank, Jason, Will and Sydney; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her beloved black Labrador, Raven.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Senior Emergency Fund, c/o Harford County Office on Aging, 145 N. Hickory Av, Bel Air, MD 21014.

A Celebration of Her life will be held at a later date.

Marge was a wonderful woman who loved her family dearly. She often talked about the accomplishments for her children and grandchildren.
I would visit her often when I worked for the City of Aberdeen and she was at the Aberdeen Senior Center. We would talk about how she could make life better
for the seniors at the center.
I would talk to her about my mother who I was taking care of in Pennsylvania and she always had a way of listening to me. She always gave me good advise.
We kept in touch after I left Aberdeen where we would meet for breakfast or lunch. I will miss her greatly.

I am very sad and in shock over Marge's passing as she was a great friend of my mother, Mimi and I and sat with my Mom in her final 2 weeks which I will never forget. We spoke on the phone often and she was the most caring and compassionate person and the most loved. I'm so sorry for your family's loss and my thoughts are with you all- she adored her family and Grandchildren whom she spoke of often. I will miss her terribly.

I met Mrs. Marge at the Aberdeen senior center where she worked with my Mother, Kathy Arnold. I was a little girl when I first met her. She quickly became like a Grandmother to me. She watched me grow up and was there when my son was born and watched him grow up. Mrs. Marge was such a sweet, caring and witty woman. She will be greatly missed. ♥️

Marge was one of the very first people I met when I moved to Harford County! She welcomed me with a warm smile and friendly manner, and always made me feel at home. Marge was a deeply caring person who touched the lives of so many seniors in our community. She will truly be missed by all of us! My sincerest condolences to all of her family and loved ones.
