Mark Allen Beckwith of Gordonville, PA, formerly of Bel Air, MD, passed away peacefully at the age of 78. He was the beloved husband of Constance Beckwith (nee Ainsley) for 55 years and loving father of Adam Christopher Beckwith. He was the loving son of the late Glenn and Emily Beckwith; and the brother of the late G. Michael Beckwith.
Mark was born in Baltimore and lived most of his life in Maryland. His early education was in public schools and later he attended and graduated from McDonogh School in Owings Mills, MD. Mark went to college at the University of Baltimore where he earned a degree in business. His college years were briefly interrupted when he joined the Army Reserves. Basic Training prepared him to serve, if called, when needed as a medic. After college, the first of several careers, was a bank manager for Equitable Trust Company. The knowledge and experience he acquired at the bank was applied later to gasoline and carwash business as he joined C & D Corporation and later became partner. Almost three decades passed, he once again changed his career path and worked for Northeastern Supply Company in an auditor and security consultant position and later he managed the main branch of this large company for several years before retiring.
He was a board member for two private schools where he began golf tournaments to benefit both schools. The Johns Hopkins Children Center was another organization where he was involved with raising funds. He still found time to be treasurer for the HOA of his neighborhood and to also represent gasoline owners by speaking to the legislature in Annapolis against tax increases on gasoline. While living in Maryland, Mark and his family attended Union Chapel United Methodist Church and Bel Air United Methodist Church. Mark and Connie retired to a peaceful area of Lancaster, where he was able to enjoy “GOLF” and continue his interest in following politics and cheering for his Ravens and Orioles. Cruising was another one of his favorite leisurely pastimes; of most importance to Mark, was time spent with his family and his many friends. He will be missed.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Schimunek Funeral Home of Bel Air, Inc., 610 W. MacPhail Rd, Bel Air, MD 21014, on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. On Thursday, August 13, 2024, at the Bel Air United Methodist Church, 21 Linwood Ave, Bel Air, MD 21014, a visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, with Funeral Service to begin at 11:00am. Interment to follow at Bel Air Memorial Gardens 809 Rock Spring Rd., Bel Air, MD 21014.
