On, October 24, 2011, Michael William Phoebus, age 62, of Havre de Grace MD, died of pancreatic cancer in his home. Born and raised in Parkville, MD,Mike was a graduate of Parkville High School and Towson State College. He married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Myers on January 9,1971 and they raised their three daughters in the Perry Hall area. One of Mike’s greatest passions was coaching soccer, basketball and softball with his daughters at the recreation and club level. He went on to coach women’s soccer and the golf teams at Essex Community College. Mike always participated in athletics. He played on high school and college teams, coached numerous youth teams, played softball and semi pro football. As he got older, he took up the game of golf and was an avid golfer, even after his diagnosis. He was affiliated with Sparrows Point County Club and Maryland Golf and Country Club. Mike served on the Board of Directors at Sparrows Point Country Club. He was a business manager for several companies before becoming an entrepreneur. Mike owned his own company that was recently representing National Recognition Products. He is survived by his wife and cherished friend, Barbara, and was a dedicated and supportive Dad to Makendra James and her husband, Steve; Jessaka Nastalski and her husband Adam; and Alyssa Heiderman and her husband Jeff. He was a proud Pop Pop to Kaelyn, Sydney, Alexandra, Britan, Caden, Ellery and
Jackson. Mike is survived by two brothers: David and his wife Pat and Steven and his wife Kathy.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Schimunek Funeral Home of Bel Air, Inc., 610 West MacPhail Road (at Rte 24) on Friday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm, where a Memorial Service will be held on Saturday at 11 am.
