He was more than a colleague…we were friends. I often thought of him as a younger brother and would enjoy our daily talks about life and all things FHS. I will miss him.

My condolences to the entire Heier family. I was a student of Mr. Heier in the mid-1990s. He made business and accounting class fun - no easy feat! His memorable phrases, including "Always make sure your bookkeeper takes at least one vacation a year," still stick with me. I am so sad to hear about your loss.  I can't imagine how much your heart is hurting from losing such a fantastic person in Rick.  While I met him only a few times, I have fond memories of those times, including the Tour de Cure bike ride in Indy.

My sincere condolences to the family of Rick Heier. As one of his co-workers at FHS, l cannot remember ever seeing him without  his boyish smile. I’ll always remember his genuine happiness.

To Karen,Chris, Kelly and Kendyll, I am so sorry to hear of Rich’s passing.  I have so many fond memories of working with him as a teacher but beyond that as a friend sharing good times with Rich and your family.  I will always remember him as good spirited, funny  and fun to be with.  He was a rare individual loved by his students, colleagues and friends.  He was a good man who touched so many lives.  I am grateful that I was one of those people. 
During these sad and difficult times I pray that you all gain strength from your memories of the wonderful husband and father Rich was to you.

I'm not sure if 1979 was Mr. Heier's first year of teaching, but to this day, I believe Business Math was the most USEFUL class I took in all 4 years of school at Bel Air High School. He was a great teacher and I truly appreciate the impact his instruction had in my adult life.

Wishing Karen and all the Friends and Heier Family peace in knowing that Rick is now at rest. It is your loving care that kept him going gracefully for many years. I hope you find solace in many fond memories of better days and knowing his passing has freed him from any further suffering. He was a true giver in his work and passions and I will always remember his kind smile. I am so sorry for your loss.

My sincerest condolences to the Heier family for their loss of such a wonderful & kind person who literally knew me since I was just a baby. As a close family friend, it deeply saddens me that Rick has passed onto greener pastures. Rick was an incredible educator, father, athlete, & above all a kind loving person with a great sense of humor. I’ll never forget my first Vegas trip with the Heier family in which Rick proclaimed he was not willing to leave the pool while slapping the water. 😂😂❤️ You will be sincerely missed Rick. Karen and family-
It's been almost 35 years since my babysitting services were a regular occurrence for your family! I still to this day applaud Rick's brilliance in getting high school girls to manage his JV team and babysit his kids for him at practice.  So many fond memories of managing the basketball team with Rick and Robin and Ted.  Rick introduced me to accounting in Intro to Business in 9th grade and I was hooked.  He even created a special class for me of Accounting II senior year.  So many fond memories of him at FHS.  Prayers for your family.  May he rest in peace.

I had Mr. Heier for accounting and he left a lasting impression on me.  His class was fun...he was fun. Even as a high schooler I could see his love for his family.  He talked about his wife and kids every class I had with him and it was evident he was so proud.  Even watching him coach basketball was fun because he had such passion.  Whatever he was doing or saying he was such a genuine man that just made you smile or laugh.   I have thought about Mr. Heir a million times over the years.  This breaks my heart but I hope he is at peace.  I am sure he is smiling down.  Many prayers to your family.

I am so very sad to hear of the passing of the legendary accounting teacher and coach, Mr. Heier.  He was beyond fantastic and his 6th period accounting class was one of my  favorite high school classes of all time.  "Making learning fun" seemed to be his mantra and he was easily one of the funniest teachers I have ever known.  The world was certainly a richer place with him in it.

Mr. Heier (or "Mr. Rick" as I referred to him) was an awesome neighbor. Always so lively and said hi to everyone whether in the neighborhood or at school. I will miss Mr. Rick and my condolences are with Karen, Chris, Kelly, and Kendyll.

Mr Heier made an impression on so many of his students.  He was always positive and made learning fun.  He never took school too seriously.  I was fortunate to have him as my tennis coach and babysat for his children a few times.  He will be greatly missed.  Janet Williams ((Haines)

Warmest, most heartfelt condolences from a former FHS student. I still remember fondly how “Mr. Heier” made Accounting the class I looked forward to most. Seriously, Accounting??
Yet, I still tell stories about that class, and how Rick Heier treated us like young adults and made learning fun. (I still check my back for small pieces of masking tape - If you know, you know.)
It’s testament to a fine man that those memories still live with me 40 years on.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Mr. Heier. Sending condolences to his family at this difficult time. I will never forget all the good stories, and fun times in his class. He had a bagel magnet on the board and if you didn’t do good on a test, you got the big bagel on your desk. He was hilarious. Such a happy person. He was one of those teachers that you never forget. The loss of a close friend is always difficult But a loss of a longtime friend  friend that you journeyed through life with is tragic.I can never forget the many experiences that I shared with Richie and his family during the past 35 years. Mr. Heier was my Business Management teacher many years ago. He could teach while making the class fun and interesting. Rest in Peace, Mr. Heier

He was the energy and light of my high school years at Fallston!  Being the first female football player he was so proud to have me in class.  I know numbers and stocks better than I could’ve ever imagined because of him!  Fly high!

Rich coached Basketball with me at Fallston High school for many years!  His love of the game and commitment to the program and especially the players made Coach  Heier an easy hire for me!  Beyond the coaching Rick and Karen are wonderful friends to Beth and myself!  Rick was absolutely devoted to his family and was loved and respected by everyone who knew him!  It is with a heavy heart that we all will know Rick is not with us anymore.  But with the terrible disease Rick had which took him from us years ago.  My heart is at peace knowing Rick  is done with his suffering and is in the hands of our Lord and Savor!  Rest in Peace my friend.

Tim and I wish our condolences to Karen and Rick’s family. I loved Rick’s class at FHS and enjoyed being his aide in my senior year way back when. But it went beyond high school. I worked with his parents and he and Karen at NYC Shoes for several years. We also did a Friday night bowling league together which was a great time. Many prayers to all who loved him and are missing him today.
