On March 30, 2021, Robert Edward Dael passed away. He was the beloved husband of Ellen Mary Dael (nee Deveney); devoted father of Julie Dael, Roger Dael, Mary Frances Gensor and her husband Joseph, II, and Susan Fithian and her husband Matthew; cherished son of Dolores Dael and the late Julius Dael; loving grandfather of Naomi and Amelia Fithian and Reed Gensor; dear brother of Dennis Dael and his late wife Doreen; cherished brother-in-law of Janice Chapoton, and Sheila Jacobs and her husband Roger.
Robert earned a Bachelor’s Degree from the Detroit Institute of Technology, as well as a Graduate Degree from the University of Wisconsin Graduate School of Banking. He was involved in many community and professional organizations; to include, the Town of Bel Air Board of Appeals, The Greater Harford Committee, Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond Payments Advisory Council, Mid-Maryland Workforce Investment Board, and the Howard County Economic Development Authority Board of Directors. He was one of the four organizers of the Columbia Bank of Columbia, Maryland. After many years serving on the Board of Directors of the Mid-Atlantic Clearing House Association (MACHA), he assumed the position of President and CEO. He continued to serve as the President and CEO Emeritus.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Schimunek Funeral Home of Bel Air, 610 W. MacPhail RD, Bel Air, MD 21014, on Thursday, April 1,, 2021 and Friday, April 2, 2021, from 3-5 PM and 7-9 PM. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 3, 2021, at 11 AM, at the funeral home. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Robert’s name to the University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Medical Center Kaufman Cancer Center, 500 Upper Chesapeake Drive, Bel Air, MD 21014.
