What a wild ride it's been

On July 13, 2026, Teresa Somers passed away peacefully in her home, holding the hand of her beloved husband, Robert Jenkins.

She was the devoted mother of Kathleen Somers, Roger Dale Somers Jr., and David Jenkins. She was the cherished Yaya of Shannon, Zachary, Shelby, Kaitlyn, Corey, Lindsey, and Derek, and the loving Great-Yaya of Riley, Briella, Camrynn, Araya, Colton, Autumn, Zayla, and Xavier. She is survived by her sister, Marie, and was preceded in death by Nivin, Debbie, Richard, Robbie, Gena, and Joey.

Teresa leaves behind many coworkers, peers, and a community to which she dedicated her career as a social worker. She spent her life supporting families and children at risk, offering guidance, advocacy, and unwavering compassion to those facing the greatest challenges.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Schimunek Funeral Home, Inc., 610 W. MacPhail Rd, Bel Air, MD 21014, on Sunday, July 26, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. The memorial service will begin at 2:00 PM. Following the service, there will be a gathering for family, friends, and community members to come together in remembrance and celebration.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Teresa’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Harford County Child Advocacy Center (or a similar organization in your local area):
