Virginia married Hugh Ashton Lyon on 29 April 1956 and they remained married until Hugh’s death on 1 January 2021. Virginia and Hugh have two children, Maureen Falkenstein and David Hugh Lyon and four granddaughters, Carly Lyon, Sarah Falkenstein, Rebecca Falkenstein and Mallory Lyon.
Virginia was devoted to her faith and her family. She was highly active in her local parish and its school where her children attended (Sacred Heart in Mount Holly, NJ). There she held various volunteer positions to include Treasurer and President of the Parent Teacher Association. After her children graduated, she became heavily involved in the Woman’s League of New Jersey, holding a number of offices to include the league President. However, her favorite activity was volunteering at the St. Vincent De Paul Food Pantry where she assisted those struggling to attain self-sufficiency. Later in her life, she was strongly devoted to her four granddaughters, intently watching them blossom into delightful young women.
