On Friday, September 1, 2023, William P. "Bil" Barron of Abingdon, passed away peacefully at University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Hospital in Harford County. He was 74. Mr. Barron was born in Baltimore, the first son of the late William M. Barron and Mildred V. Krajewski.
Mr.Barron is survived by his loving wife of forty-three years, Mary Frances Cogley, his step-daughter, Christianna Lynn Massar of Joppa, sister--in-law Ruth Cogley Seitler (Jerry Seitler) of Abingdon, sister Stacy Barron Taylor (Bryan Taylor) of Bear, DE, and brothers Stephen (Diane) of Hudson, FL, Timothy (Phyllis), of Dundalk, and Kevin, also of Dundalk. His brother Michael predeceased him in 2006.
Mr Barron is also survived by nieces Tanya Preis of Baltimore, Micolena Barron of Baltimore, Angelina Cappelli of DE and Magdalena Barron of Hagerstown. He is survived by nephews Timothy Barron of Baltimore and Terry Cappelli of Atlanta, GA.
Mr. Barron is also survived by dear friends Ronald and Lynn McElroy of Forest Hill, Dean and Suzan Stairs of Fairhaven, MA, Keith and Noreen Duff of Parkville, Susan and Jack Twigg of Bethany, DE, and Richard and Martha Jones of Ijamsville, MD.
Mr. Barron graduated with an Academic Degree from Patapsco Senior High School, Class of 1967. He served in the United States Army from 1969 - 1971 in Wurzburg, Germany, where he was assigned to the Army hospital on base, attaining the rank of E5. Following his time in the military, Bil attended the Baltimore City Hospitals X-Ray School from 1972 - 1974. Upon graduation, he began working at City Hospitals in the Special Procedures Department. He also attended Harford Community College, studying photography, stained glass and guitar.
Mr Barron enjoyed traveling with his wife on many cruises, visiting Hilton Head, SC and various destinations in Florida, and going to spend time with friends. He attained a legendary knowledge of rock, alternative and blues music trivia. He was also a movie buff, enjoying war and science fiction the most. In years past, Bil was involved with the Edwin Booth Theater for ten years, having worked in many capacities from set construction to stage managing, lighting and acting. Bil was also an active member of the Patapsco Class of 1967 Reunion Committee and always enjoyed seeing his classmates and great friends at monthly luncheons and other events.
Mr Barron retired in 2014 from Greater Baltimore Medical Center as the Supervisor of the Angio Lab. He was with GBMC for seven years. Prior to that, he worked at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center, Harford Memorial Hospital, Bon Secours Hospital, and Baltimore City Hospitals
Mr Barron will be cremated and his ashes will be spread in his favorite vacation destinations by his family. A Celebration of Life will be held in October or November, 2023. Location and time will be posted on this website. Please check for an update.
