Bill is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Sherry Schubert (nee Purcell); his sons William Scott Schubert (Diane), Jason Gardner Schubert (Jacqueline) and his four grandchildren: Tyler, Zach, Lindsey, and Kendall. His family was the great joy of his life. Bill was preceded by his father, William Gardner Schubert Sr, mother Gertrude, and sister Marilyn O’Brien.
Born on April 19, 1943, Bill grew up as an active member of the Boy Scouts, the Parkville Recreation Football League, and the Parkville High School lacrosse team. Bill worked in the Information Sciences industry, with his career allowing him to travel across the globe. He retired from Black and Decker as an Information Systems Manager.
He was active in the Bel Air community, acting as President of the Bel Air Youth Football Club while proudly coaching Scott and Jason. Bill served in the Army National Guard as a Warrant Officer for seven years. He was a pilot who flew Cessna planes and a certified boat captain. Bill’s boat, the “Panache”, sailed the back bays of the Chesapeake for many years.
Bill and Sherry traveled extensively – venturing to over 15 countries. Some of his favorite vacations included a 50th anniversary trip to London and Paris, tours around Italy, Greece, and Alaska. He loved sitting in the Floridian sun in The Villages, where they spent many winters. Bill greatly enjoyed using his ham (amateur) radio. He was a member of The American Radio Relay League, connecting with fellow operators in all 50 states, six continents, 100 countries and the International Space Station.
Bill always brightened up a room, retelling anecdotes from his life with Sherry. His laughter was infectious. He will be greatly missed.
