Dayton Rex Wilks, 81, passed away January 13, 2020 at the Belton Regional Medical Center in Belton, Missouri. Mr. Wilks was born July 30, 1938 in Tonganoxie, Kansas to Dayton and Ruth (Jackson) Wilks. He was the oldest of nine children. Mr. Wilks proudly served in the United States Air Force. He has made many friends in Belton and he enjoyed visiting with all of them. Rex loved cooking; you name it and he had probably tried to make it. He also liked when his friends brought their children over. He said it made him feel young.
Rex is survived by his son Roger W. Kley Jr. AKA Little Rex (Angel) of Fall City, NE; a brother Larry Wilks of Lawrence, KS; 4 sisters: Carol Schelske of Auburn, CA, Linda Peabody of Antelope, CA, Chris Semays of Las Vegas, NV and Rita Larson of Bakersfield, CA. His grandchildren, Daltone Kley and Natasha Kley; several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Dayton and Ruth; 3 brothers: Don Wilks, Jack Wilks, Pete Wilks, 2 nephews Erick Schelske and Jay Fausnaught.
A Memorial Service will be held 10 am - Noon Saturday, February 1 at the McGilley and George Funeral Home in Belton, Missouri with Military Honors at 11:45 A.M. Rex will be inurned in Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kansas at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions in Rex's honor be made to the charitable organizanization of your choice.
