George Eugene Geiger Jr.(Gene) 68 of Belton, Missouri passed away at Kansas City Hospice House on September 6, 2023. Gene was born in Kansas City, Missouri on September 6, 1955 to Shirley (nee Newby) and George Geiger. He grew up in Barnett, MO and attended Eldon High School and received a bachelor's degree in History/Government at Columbia College.
Gene married Yulonda (nee Chambers) in 2001, and together they shared four children, George E. Geiger III, Jessica L Geiger, Penelope N Kennedy-Neeley, and Casey M Hartman (Brad). Gene entered the United States Air Force on April 10th,1975. He served as a Master Sergeant in the AMMO troop before being honorably discharged on September 1, 1992. Gene was a proud AMMO troop brother, "I.Y.A.A.Y.A.S". After the Air Force, he worked as a fireman/oiler for the Union Pacific Railroad before retiring in 2012. Gene enjoyed fishing, hunting, and creating handmade custom knives. He was avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Chiefs, the Royals and Nascar. He was a member of the Reorganized Church of Latter-day Saints.
He received the gift of life with a double lung transplant at Barnes Jewish Hospital on May 1, 2019.
Gene and his family are eternally grateful to his organ donor who provided Gene with four years and four months more of life.
Gene is survived by his wife Yulonda Geiger; children George Geiger III, Jessica Geiger, Penelope Kennedy-Neeley and Casey Hartman (Brad); granddaughter Avalynn and grandson Jayden; brothers Vince Geiger (Denise), TJ Geiger, Brad Geiger (Annette), Manual Duncan and his sister Mona May (Norman), along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Shirley Geiger, and his brother Herschel Andrew Geiger.
