Obituary of Minerva May Pryne
Minerva May Francis Shepard Pryne, 90, died peacefully in her sleep at home on August 6, 2022, surrounded by her family. She was born May 17, 1932, in rural St. Clair County, Missouri, one of five children born to Stephen W. Shepard and Odessa A. (Cary) Shepard. She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Junior Lee Pryne; daughter, Kay (Pryne) King; son-in-law, Michael Eugene King; and granddaughter, Michelle E. King. Minerva and Lee were married on June 14, 1952, in Kansas City, Missouri. Her deep faith sustained her throughout her life which included several major health challenges. Faith provided a direction for the primary purpose of her life: to be of service to others. That service was evident in the comfort and support provided to her immediate and extended family as well as a variety of community, veterans, and immigrant organizations. Her commitment to helping others was displayed by her involvement in volunteer work with the Girl Scouts of America; a Victim’s Advocate for Lee’s Summit Police Department; and Timothy Church Lutheran church & their ministries. She supported her daughter by becoming a Girl Scout leader, supporting her involvement with horse shows; and her education. One of her fondest memories was hearing the bagpipes played at her daughter’s doctoral graduation in 2017. The family wishes to extend gratitude to Kansas City Hospice & Palliative Care who made her last months more comfortable and helped her family care for her in the home. Those who wish to remember Minerva in a special way may make a gift to the charity of their choice in lieu of sending flowers. Services will be conducted at noon on Saturday, August 13 with Visitation beginning at 10:00 am at McGilley & George Funeral home, 12913 Grandview Rd, Grandview, Missouri. Interment will follow in the Belton Cemetery, 710 S. Scott, Belton, Missouri. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.mcgilleygeorgebelton.com for the Pryne family.
