

Peggy T. Dryden of Belton, MO passed away December 5, 2015. Visitation will be 11:30-1 p.m., open mic celebration of life to follow at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 12 at the Belton Christian Church, 409 Airway Lane. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Cass County Public Library Foundation or to Heart ‘n Hand Ministries in honor of Peggy.
Peggy was born in Havensville, KS on June 17, 1932 to Frank and Bertha Tuley. She graduated college from Central College (now Central Methodist University) in Fayette, MO. with a BS in Education and English. She came to Belton in 1954 to teach typing, shorthand, and bookkeeping at Belton High School as well as Middle School English. In 1955, she married Jack C. Dryden.
Peggy was an excellent homemaker, cook, wife and mother. Hobbies included world travel, voracious reading of books, needlepoint and sewing, playing bridge and many types of volunteer service. She was an avid KU basketball and Royal’s baseball fan.
Peggy served on the Cass County Public Library Board for 14 years, many of those years as treasurer. She served on the Belton Chamber of Commerce Executive Board and the Belton Industrial Development Authority. Peggy was a member of the Belton Historical Society, serving on the Executive Board and volunteering regularly at the museum. At age 50, Peggy began a twenty year tenure of working in the libraries at The Barstow School.
She is survived by her sister, Rosemary Barnett, Horton KS; son, Steve Dryden, Raymore MO; daughter, Sandy Knudson, Norman OK; grandchildren, Sarah, Jon and Matt Knudson and Jessica, Jacob and Carri Dryden.
