Ruby ‘Juanita’ Oakley, also known as ‘Nita’, passed away peacefully on the morning of January 18, 2023 with her son by her side at the Kansas City Hospice House on Wornall Rd. Juanita was born in 1928 to John C and Pauline (Dye) Anderson. Juanita and her late husband, Joseph Junior Oakley, more commonly known as ‘JJ’, were married in 1945. They were married 67 years and were blessed with one son, James R Oakley. They have two Grandchildren, four Great Grandchildren, and two Great-Great Granddaughters.
When not caring for her family, Juanita enjoyed working, gardening, and camping. Juanita and Joe also enjoyed sharing with others who were less fortunate throughout the years through mission work at St Mathew’s Parish in South Kansas City, where they were members for over 50 years until its closing in 2021. They also delivered much needed items to Joe’s family in the Tennessee hills and several mission parishes in Mexico while on camping trips throughout the years.
Visitation for Juanita will be held at St. Sabina Parish, 700 Trevis Ave, Belton, MO 64012 on Tuesday, January 24th at 10:30 am, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 am with Fathers Jim Taranto and Father Rocha presiding. The Rite of Committal and burial will be held at 12:30 in the Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery, 7601 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64138, Crypt 7, Alcove B, Tier A.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that you consider honoring Juanita and Joe with a Memorial Gift to the Kansas City Hospice House, thus continuing their compassion of giving to others in need through a Memorial Gift.
