Steve spent 35 years working for Southwestern Bell before retiring. In his younger years, he was a gifted baseball player and remained an avid sports fan throughout his life. He loved music and was, as those who knew him would agree, not a half-bad singer. Steve was charming and witty, with a wonderful sense of humor, and enjoyed making people laugh. He will be remembered for his inappropriate jokes, love of music, and his infectious smile.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Jill Oldfield; his daughter, Amy Erker, of Tampa, Florida, and her children, Emily and Brady; his daughter, Sara Oldfield, of Kansas City, Missouri, and her children, Jacob and Noah; his stepson, Ryan Stach (Jessica), of Lawson, Missouri, and their children, Eli, Kris, and Arlis; his stepson, Chris Stach, of St. Louis, Missouri ; his sisters, Gayle Novick (Dave), and Jacquelyn Rimel; and many nieces and nephews.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Bette and Jack Oldfield; his brother, Kevin Oldfield; and his stepson, Justin Stach.
Steve’s memory will live on through the family he cherished and the many lives he touched. A celebration of life is planned and will be shared by the family.
