After a courageous battle with C.O.P.D., Terry Lee Woodward passed from this life at home in Belton, Missouri on June 12, 2026. His wife and three sons were by his side as he peacefully went to be with His Lord and Savior.
Terry was the eldest of five children born to Elwin and Darlene Woodward on June 3, 1953 in Mapleton, Iowa. As a military dependent, Terry lived in Iowa while his father served in the Korean and Vietnam conflicts, then, the family enjoyed assignments to England and Texas. His dad, a pilot, encouraged Terry to log enough flight hours to earn his pilot’s license by his 16th birthday. News media highlighted the fact that he became a licensed pilot and got his driver’s license on the day he turned 16.
Terry met his future wife the summer of 1969, when both of their fathers were assigned to Richards Gebaur Air Force Base in Missouri. He graduated from Belton High School in 1971 and married his high school sweetheart, Linda Tormanen, on May 20, 1972. Theirs was an enduring union that produced three of the finest sons for which parents could hope. Quiet observation of their 54th wedding anniversary occurred recently.
Terry excelled at baseball, softball and billiards, winning many tournaments. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman and became an award-winning master craftsman in all facets of home-building and remodeling, including foundations, the electrical and plumbing trades, as well as custom furniture and cabinetry. The dining room table that he built in the 70’s is still the hub where thousands of meals were shared and countless board games continue to be played.
Terry was a home and building supplier in Northwest Iowa in the 70’s and early 80’s. Our family was privileged to live in three homes that he built himself. After completing our present home in Belton, he transitioned into home remodeling and established his own company in the 90’s. In 2001, son, Mark came aboard. Woodward Construction earned a stellar reputation based on integrity and reliability. The company aimed to exceed expectations on every project, winning multiple awards including, "Best Bath Remodel" and "Best Kitchen Remodel" by K.C.Better Homes & Gardens Magazine.
A devoted husband, father and grand-dad, Terry will be missed by many until that day when we meet again in the kingdom of Heaven.
