Viola Mae Stevens, 93, passed away peacefully April 14, 2024 with her family by her side. She was born March 19,1931 in Hope, Kansas to Norman and Hilda (Pigorsch) Graham. In 1948 Viola married Dean G Stevens. In 1951 the family moved to Belton, Missouri. Viola operated “Vi’s Cleaning Service” for over 50 years. She worked for Cotter and Co. for 20 years. Viola’s passion was gardening. Viola loved nature and being outdoors. She raised a variety of flowers that resulted in a vibrant color display from spring to fall each year.
With her love of all sorts of animals, you could assure she got them fed, cats, dogs, birds, etc. In her free time, you could always find her putting a new puzzle together encouraging anyone to lend a hand. She had the nickname the Puzzle Lady. She enjoyed sports of all kinds. She was eager to be involved in family activities, picnics, and celebrations of any kind. Viola was a member of South Haven Baptist Church.
Viola is preceded in death by her parents and 8 of her 9 brothers and sisters; Orville, Floyd, William, Charles, Albert Graham, Isabella (Bezdek), Velva (Brunner), and Zelda (Fryhover); her daughter Patricia Kirk; son Richard Stevens. She is survived by her son-law Carl Kirk of Belton, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 11AM – 12PM Saturday, May 4 at McGilley & George Funeral Home, 611 Chestnut, Belton, MO followed by services at 12PM. Inurnment will be in Belton Cemetery.
