Virgil Anderson "Andy" Henson III

February 6, 1948 – May 9, 2025
Obituary of Virgil Anderson "Andy" Henson III
IN THE CARE OF

McGilley & George Funeral Home and Cremation Services

Virgil Anderson “Andy” Henson, III, age 77, of Belton, MO, passed away peacefully at home with his wife by his side on May 9, 2025.

Born into a military family, Andy had various childhood homes, with Germany as his favorite. As the eldest of four, he had two brothers and a sister.

He met Mariam “Feebee” Ferebee at CMSU, and married in Centralia, MO, where they made their first home. They moved to Kansas City, MO, and raised their children Denise and Virgil “Gil” Henson, IV.

He was a retail sales manager most of his career at Sherwin Williams and Home Depot and was active in Jaycees and Elks. In later years, he worked at Suburban Lawn & Garden, Office Max and Wal-Mart.

After the death of his first wife in 2003, Andy met Joyce Schupp at Home Depot where he was department manager. He won her over with his sense of humor and they married on January 17, 2004. The family he married into became a cherished part of his last two decades of life.

He was an avid reader, loved fishing, golfing, traveling and spending time with friends and family. He had vivid and funny facial expressions and joyful belly laughs. His big personality made everyone feel welcome and was a friend to all and will be greatly missed.

Surviving him are his wife Joyce Schupp-Henson; son Virgil Henson, IV (Carol); siblings Mark (Gloria) Henson and Janet Boucher (John); stepmom Linda Henson; stepdaughters Kimberly Ware (Jason), Christi Polson (Mark), Carrie Schupp (David Ambs) and Kelly Parker (Peter); grandchildren: Thomas, Sabrina, Nicole, Melissa, Erica, Conner, Anne, Logan and Charles; great grandchildren: Harper and Seraphina.

Preceding him in death were his daughter Denise, first wife Mariam, parents Virgil Jr. and Greta, and brother Brent.

He requested a Celebration of Life instead of a funeral, which will be private, at a later date.
