

Wm. Ray Majors, 66, of Pleasant Hill, MO passed away Sunday, January 22, 2012. Ray was born June 24, 1945 to Delores F. (Elkins) Majors in Belton, MO. He grew up in Independence, Belton and the Grandview areas. Ray was a 1964 graduate of Grandview High School, Grandview, MO. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving from 1964-1966.
Ray spent his working career driving for Wayne Willey Disposal. He furthered his career by driving over the road for Farmland Industries. He earned a one year safe drivers patch.
Ray married Bonnie Vaughn on December 9, 1975 at the First Baptist Church in Belton, MO. He and Bonnie celebrated 36 years of marriage this past December. Ray was a former member of Hope Baptist Church for twenty years. Since 2002 he was a member of Belton Freewill Baptist Church in Belton. Ray enjoyed building woodcrafts for the family, craft fairs and church events.
He lived with his family in the Pleasant Hill area for the past thirty-two years.
Ray had been in declining health in the previous months. He was preceded in death by his mother, Delores R. Majors and grandchild, Francis Rae Young.
Ray is survived by his wife, Bonnie Lynn; two sons, Bryan and Timothy, all of the home; daughter, JoEllen Rae Young; son-in-law, Frank and granddaughter, Jessica of Port Monmouth, New Jersey; sister, Marie Rife of Belton, MO and other family members.
Rays celebration of life service was held on Thursday, January 26 at McGilley & George Funeral Home. Burial with Military Honors provided by the US Navy in the Freeman Cemetery in Freeman, MO. Arrangements: McGilley & George Funeral Home 611 Chestnut Belton, MO 64012 (816-322-2995)
