Dear Grandma,
I'm thinking of you today, three years after you transitioned to heaven.  I trust you're happy up there with grandpa and Uncle Whitie.  We miss you here...your warmth, your humor, your urging us to 'Love one another'.  You were smart, good at cards, and a very kind and compassionate woman!  You always had time to ask us how we were doing, even when you were in pain yourself.  I'm so grateful you lived to 103 years old.  It's not easy to live that long but you did it!  Love and miss you always, grandma!!!

Grandma, 
Remembering you today.  I miss you.  I miss hearing you say, LOVE ONE ANOTHER.  I miss the way you always told me that I still looked like I was 30.  I miss how much you loved your scratch-offs.  Your love was unconditional and you always said, "How are you?" no matter how much you were suffering.  It's not easy growing old but you did it with dignity. Grandma, Thanks for the great memories. U will truly be missed. From my youth until recently all the fun board games we played & all the card games you taught us are some  of my favorite times with u. The times Dad drove us to see you every weekend to be together. You always fed us, but never giving us too much at once! You’d always say “if you want more, I’ll give ya more” Everything in moderation.  Apparently that is the secret!  U made it to 103 !  Going to the store with you and people asking if you were my mother! U we’re so youthful & beautiful.  The joy of watching u & Grandpa doing the Polka @ the VFW, I was so proud to see my Grandparents dancing so beautifully. I tried, but seeing myself in the mirror,  looking like Frankenstein; I gave up my dance lessons. Lessons are what Grandparents are great at teaching us ! Just follow their simple lessons!  Life will be better! You always closed our conversations with “Love one another”  I can hear Grandpa say “shut the d*#n lights off” I don’t own the Electric  Company! I’m forever sayin that 54 yrs later!  Great lessons learned.  Love ya always, Dan Jr.

She slipped away peacefully in the night
No longer shinning her beautiful light, She dances in heaven with the love of her life, he patiently waited to hold her, his beautiful wife.  A precious child was already there, eagerly waiting his mother’s embrace , and saw the beautiful smile upon her face, With his father beside him they welcomed in .  A new existence about to begin.  Memories they’ve left us to have & to hold, for us to cherish until we grow old. Together forever their souls shall be,  and live on 4ever within you & me

Grandma,
Thank you for always asking me how I was doing and being interested in my life even when you were struggling so much with your own aches and pains.  I always felt your care and your love.  Thank you for playing Kings in the Corner with me.  Thank you for being so kind to my friends.  Thank you for having the courage to live such a long life and for surviving all of the hard times and the challenges.  I so appreciate your spirit and can picture you dancing with the angels in heaven right now....maybe you're even teaching THEM how to Polka!!!  I love you always!  You will be missed! xo Tina

I have such a special memory with my Great Grandma Anne. I went to visit my family in Florida for a few weeks, her and I would play cards every afternoon for a few rounds. She would kick my butt every single time. It was so special for me to have known her and get to know her better. 

I’ll miss you granny Anne, always will. 

Anna Nazar was my Grandma.  I regret to say that I spent nowhere near enough time with her, which is truly my loss.  Nonetheless, the times I did spend with her make up valuable memories for me.  Crazy as it may sound, my strongest memories all involve playing cards and eating her homemade authentic Eastern European cooking—made largely from the produce she and Grandpa grew in their garden.  I have no doubt that her blessed longevity was largely the result of such clean living.  One of my favorite memories relates to Grandma’s attempts to show us grandkids how to live a healthy life, when on hot summer days my siblings and I would beg her for ice cream; Grandma would insist that if we were to have something unhealthy like ice cream, we would have to also have something healthy to balance out the equation.  That’s where the wheat germ came in.  The first time Grandma sprinkled wheat germ all over my ice cream, I thought, “What the heck…?”  I protested, but yet, after my first mouthful, I secretly loved it!

It wasn’t until many years later that I grasped her wisdom.  And, it most certainly wasn’t just about nutritional choices.  Grandma was teaching us about the importance of balance in living a good life.  In almost every conversation Grandma and I had over the last decade, Grandma focused the conversation on my kids.  As a result, I do my best to impart her wisdom to my own children, and every one of them is better for it.  

I’ll miss you Grandma, but I will see your face and hear your voice every time I sit with my kids and play gin rummy or eat ice cream…
