A native of Jamaica, Queens, NY, he was born Jan 31, 1938 to Harry and Meta (Eggers) Schneider, one of three children. Jack, as he was known to everyone, moved to Citrus County in 1986 from Allentown, PA. Mr. Schneider was a professional meat cutter and worked in the Allentown area with A & B and Alpo companies. While living in Allentown, Jack attended Seibert Evangelical Lutheran Church and here in Citrus County was a member of North Oak Baptist Church in Citrus Springs. His daughter Frieda Roth had this to say about her father: “Pops hobbies included collecting baseball cards, collecting trains, fixing things, putting things together and reminiscing of days gone by, and collecting and listening to organ music. Upon the digital age he became part of the Facebook Farmville society and built an extensive farm online. Prior to moving to Florida he bowled in a men’s league in Allentown, remodeled the house and tinkered with anything that stopped working. He also like building things with wood, working in the yard and cooking. He helped me get all my Girl Scout badges Pops perfect days was when he had projects. One of Pops phrases - every day is a good day (if there was a difficult day his phrase would be “Things will get better.” The best way to describe him is the phrase jack of all trades. His other perfect days are the holidays or special occasions when everyone gets together, has fun and enjoys Sunday dinners.” In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Schneider in 2011; sisters Marlene Gembs and Elfredia Stevenson; grandson Austin JG Roth in 2008 and nephew Richard Gembs in 2014.
