Charles G. 'Smitty' Smith, 88 of Dunnellon, Florida died on Friday, September 10, 2010. He was born in Monticello, Indiana on February 17, 1922 to Charles H. and Juanita (Wallace) Smith. He was a retired Yard Agent for the Norfolk and Southern Railroad in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. He moved from Michigan to Florida in 1985.
Smitty was of the Christian faith and served in WWII with the U.S. Navy. He Enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid fisherman.
Survivors include his sons; Charles Smith of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, John Smith and wife Lisa of Ft. Wayne, Indiana and Phillip T. Smith and wife Shirley of Columbia City, Indiana; daughter, Katherine Sauers and husband Douglas of Columbia City, Indiana; 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and his friends, Clifton 'Ronnie' Long and wife Shirley of Dunnellon, Florida.
A Memorial Service of Remembrance with Military Honors will take place on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at 1:00 PM. at Fero Memorial Gardens Cemetery Mausoleum, 5891 N. Lecanto Highway, Beverly Hills, Florida 34465.
