Clara Capinski Makoid was called to her heavenly home on January 14, 2021.
Clara was born in Norristown, Pennsylvania, to the late Peter and Clara (Szuwala) Capinski on November 14, 1953. She grew up and attended Sacred Heart Catholic School and graduated from Bishop Kenrick Catholic High School in 1971.
Clara married Reverend Mr. Thomas Eric Makoid on July 12, 1975. Together, they raised two children, Michael and Mary Alice. Clara worked for many years as an administrative assistant. It wasn’t until her daughter, Mary Alice, enrolled at Gwynedd Mercy College, that Clara decided to change her career and pursue a degree in elementary education. With great pride, she graduated with her daughter in 2002. Shortly after graduation, she and Eric moved to Citrus Springs, FL, to escape the harsh winters and enjoy the beautiful Florida sunshine. It was here Clara taught elementary school for several years. She also served as a religious education director and catechist. She was an active member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Dunnellon.
Clara enjoyed spending time with her family and spoiling her six grandchildren, who lovingly referred to her as “Babci” (Polish for grandmom). She also enjoyed singing in the church choir and fervently researching her family genealogy. She loved her cat, “Pretty.”
Left to cherish Clara’s memory are - her husband: Reverend Mr. Thomas Eric Makoid; Son: Michael (Danielle) Makoid; Daughter: Mary Alice (Dan) Hogan; and six grandchildren: David, Anthony, Noelle, Vincent, Joey and Julianne, among many family and friends.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 20th at 10 am in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 7525 US-41, Dunnellon, FL. Interment will be private. Viewing will be on Wednesday morning from 9 am to 10 am at the church.
Arrangements are under the care of Fero Funeral Home of Beverly Hills, FL.
