David Allen Swetland

David is survived by his partner, Bonnie Keck, 8 children: Daniel Swetland (Lynete), Kurt Schmidt (Leah), Christina Schmidt, Melissa Spagone (Matthew), Amy Bormann (Skip), Jessica Phillips (Stephen), Tamara Dougherty (Ryan), and Kayla Doughtery (Lee). He also leaves behind 10 grandchildren: Katie Frauenhoffer (Ryan), Jeremy Carol, Maceo Spagone (Savannah), Dawson Gregory, Miles Spagone, Devin Gregory, Jane Moran, Aiden Perkins, and Meryl Spagone. 1 great-grandson: Damien Frauenhoffer.

David was a veteran of the Vietnam War. After the war he served as a recruiter for the Navy and in the National Guard. He was born in Brockton, Ny and grew up in Fredonia, Ny.

He was 1 of 2 sons (Paul & Sandy Swetland) born to Sanford and Ramona Swetland. As a teenager he learned to work on cars. Over the years he worked in several fields but ultimately returned to mechanics. He was an avid motorcycle rider. In retirement he was a member of several biking clubs and enjoyed raising money through his club membership for worthy causes. Locally, he was well loved for his role as Santa Clause (no charge). The discipline and patriotism he learned in the Navy never left him, as friends and family will attest. He will be missed beyond what mere words can express but memories are and will forever be cherished by many.

Services will be held at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bushnell, Fl at 2:20 PM on August 23rd.
