Donald E. Adkins
January 27, 1931 – May 25, 2012
Donald E. “Don” Adkins, 81, of Beverly Hills, FL, passed away on Fri., May 25, 2012 at his home under the care of family, friends and Hospice of Citrus County. A native of Toledo, OH, Don was born on Jan. 27, 1931, the son of Harvey and Anna (Fritz) Adkins. Mr. Adkins working life carried him through 35 years with Toledo Scale Co., retiring as an engineering department manager. Then he and his wife Sheryl founded Big Walnut Log Homes in Galena, OH, an endeavor that lasted 6 years. Upon retiring to Beverly Hills 17 years ago from Galena, Don pursued his passion of radio controlled airplanes and began D & S Hobby Shop in Citrus County, a business he owned for 16 years. His interests included bowling, golf, basketball and going on cruises. He was a proud member of Tri-County R/C Club for 16 years and also, for a number of years, held memberships in both the Nature Coast and Pine Ridge R/C Clubs. Mr. Adkins was a Korean War Era veteran of the U.S. Army. Don is survived by his wife of 29 years, Sheryl Adkins, Beverly Hills; his three children Lynann “Lynn” Klear (Jeffery); Michael Adkins (Sheri) and Rebecca Green; also grandchildren Jade, Jessie, Jacob, Alexa and Andrea and great granddaughter Kayleigh. He was preceded in death by a brother, James Adkins. A Graveside Service of Remembrance will be held on Thurs., June 7th at 10:30 A.M. at Fero Memorial Gardens, Beverly Hills, with Fr. Sorry to hear of Don's passing, he was a great guy. I worked and bowled,played softball with him back before he went to Westerville.

Seems like only yesterday you told me you had found someone, you had the smile of a lifetime! He was not only a husband he was your soulmate,co-worker and best friend. Although Don has passed his memories will last forever. Let those memories keep the smile on your face that he so loved. Sheila

Sheryl,
I remember the first time I met you at the hobby shop before we moved to FL. You and Don were such great friends and we will miss Don as we go about life. Don will be missed by many many people who have come to know him and appreciate his help and friendship in many ways.
We will always be here for you.

Sheryl, needless to say, Don will be missed by many of our club members of The Tri-County R/C Club. He was a special friend to me . I think about the grand times we had together out on the lake flying float planes.

Dear Sheryl, I am so sorry for your loss. It has been 8 years since you and Don helped me get re-started in RC after a 20+ year lapse. I still fly that first airplane that you helped me cover and Don flew on the maiden flights--I think of him every time I fly it, which is often. Mike Garner
