

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Florence Genevieve Nurse, 82 years young, of Hernando, FL on October 27th, 2024. Florence was born on June 29, 1942 to John and Mary Lombardo in her family home of Hingham, MA. She dedicated much of her life to her community and family, embodying a spirit that was truly full of life.
An alumna of Hingham Elementary and Hingham High, Florence furthered her education at Cambridge School of Business in Boston, MA. Her career as a school bus driver for many years allowed her to touch the lives of countless children, safely transporting them to and from school.
She married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Ronald Nurse, on November 3, 1962. While not in the military herself, Florence was a proud Army wife, supporting her spouse through the unique challenges and triumphs of military life. Her role was a testament to her strength, resilience and unwavering support of her family.
Over their 62 years of marriage they raised 5 children, Ronald Jr., David, Michael, Kellie Mahoney and Samantha Gibbs. She welcomed three wonderful daughter-in-laws, Lisa, Vicki, Fannie and two amazing son-in-laws, William Mahoney and Jason Gibbs to our family. She has 15 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren who she adored.
Florence was a devoted member of the Corpus Christi Parish in Sandwich, MA, where she found a community of faith and fellowship. Her artistic passion was evident in her love for painting, a hobby that brought her immense joy and relaxation. Florence was also known for her creative cooking, her joyful laugh and her fun and loving heart.
After living in Sandwich, MA for a large portion of their lives, Ron and Florence moved to Florida where they built a wonderful community of friends. She was the best and will definitely be missed by everyone who was lucky enough to cross paths with her. Florence is preceded in death by her father, John Lombardo, her mother, Mary Lombardo and her brother Dickie Lombardo. Florence’s memory will be cherished by all who knew her, as a beacon of joy and kindness.
A celebration of her life will be determined at a later date.
