Gloria was born in Silver Spring, Maryland on November 21, 1948, the daughter of the late John Molnar and Hulda Pifer. On October 23, 1982 in Silver Spring, Maryland, she marred the love of her life, Ross Glacken. Together they enjoyed 39 years of marriage. She will be forever remembered by her children, Timothy and Philip.
Gloria grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland, where she later raised her own family. Because her mother worked for the Federal Government, Gloria was taken care of during the day by her Aunt Hanna Mae, someone she came to consider as her second mother. Hanna’s two sons became her “brothers”.
She belonged to Calvary Lutheran Church. After attending Montgomery College, Gloria began working, first as a secretary and later as an administrative assistant for the Federal Government in Washington, D.C., and then in private business including ManorCare, Choice Hotels and Marriott.
After both Ross and Gloria retired, they relocated to Carlisle, Pennsylvania where they remodeled a house that they had bought. While Gloria and Ross enjoyed the comforts of their home, they both longed for the warmer weather of Florida and in 2017 moved to Beverly Hills, Florida.
Gloria was a person who appreciated simple things. She loved her family and friends and she loved life with all her heart. She was proud of the accomplishments of her sons.
She took ballet lessons for several years while growing up and was later asked to teach ballet at the school where she took lessons. For a while, she taught aerobics. Gloria enjoyed reading and was excited when Timothy and Philip gave her a Kindle one Christmas. She loved animals and was always eagerly anticipating the yearly visit to her grandfather’s farm outside of Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. Her dog Chloe was a wonderful companion.
Gloria will always be remembered for her warmth, friendliness, and great big mother’s heart. She set an example of courage and compassion that inspired others. Gloria –God speed—Heaven only knows what is in store for you.
