James Leon Beverly Jr.

Jay was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, to James L. Beverly Sr. and Dolores Braud Beverly on November 28, 1957. He grew up in Slidell, where he attended Salmen High School, graduating with the Class of 1977.

A hardworking man with a strong work ethic, Jay spent his career in demanding and skilled trades. He spent many years working in the oil fields, an adventure that even took him across the globe to the Caspian Sea, where he worked for a year as a crane operator for McDermott. Back home, he worked as a skilled Iron Worker for Woodward Construction Company. He was also a member of the local Iron Workers Union 623.

Outside of work, Jay was a passionate sports fan. He loved nothing more than watching, playing, and talking football, always fiercely cheering on his favorite teams: the LSU Tigers, the New Orleans Saints, and his alma mater, the Salmen Spartans. Above all, Jay was a devout Christian. He found great joy and peace in his faith, regularly studying the Bible and sharing its wisdom.

Jay is survived by his beloved wife, Tracy Tumbagahan Beverly of Metairie, Louisiana; and his devoted children, Eric Sewell, Bridgett Beverly Dawson (Rivers), Justin Sewell(Gabby), and Jade Beverly Blanchard (Dylan). He is also survived by his sisters, Dee Beverly Courtney (Richard) and Deborah Beverly Faciane; and his cherished grandchildren, Emma and Lilly Sewell; Alexandra, Tatum, and Beckham Schwerin; Nash, Kove, and Stetson Dawson; and David and Christopher Sewell.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Beverly, Sr.; his mother, Dolores Braud Beverly; and his sister, Mary Beverly Blanchard.

A memorial service to celebrate Jay's life will be scheduled in Metairie, Louisiana, in the near future.
