

James John DeVita, 78 of Dunnellon, Florida died on Wednesday, October 12, 2016. He was born to the late Pat and Helen DeVita on Friday, November 5, 1937 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. James attended school until the time that he began working in the family business, Pat DeVita and Son's Painting. Pat and Helen, along with James, his brother Edward and sister, Patricia moved to south Florida in 1949. The painting business grew from house painting to the painting of condominiums on the beaches of South Florida and even included the painting of the Queen Mary.
James married his wife and best friend, Lois Lee Lockrem in 1956 and then they had three daughters, Debbie, Terry and Cindy.
James is survived by his wife Lois; brother, Edward; sister, Patricia Norteman; three daughters, Deborah Ann O'Connell-Covey (husband Scott), Teresa Lynn Fletcher (husband Wayne) and Cynthia Lee Ieslin (husband Jon); six grandchildren, Thomas James (wife Carrie), Michael Leroy (wife Amy), Jonathan James (fiancé Marissa), Kaitlin Lea, Amanda Marie, James Ryan and four great grandchildren, Michael Wayne, Bradley Thomas, Alton Ray and Baylee Brielle.
James' legacy to this world and to his family was his never ending and unconditional love and support. He not only told us to set goals for our lives, but he showed us through his every day examples how to achieve those goals.
Visitation, Sunday, October 16, 2016 at 2:00 PM with a Celebration of Life following at 3:00 PM at Fero Funeral Home.
