

James Darrell Kell, 93, of Lecanto, Fl passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2022 surrounded by members of his loving family. He was born in McMinnville,TN to the late Grace Kelley Kell and Frank Kell. Jim was a veteran of the Air Force, a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grand-father and step-father
Jim and his wife Joan (Witt) were married in Key West on December 1, 1990. They made memories in Key West, Sylva, NC, Venice, FL and Lecanto, FL. Jim loved working. He had various occupations during his life. He was in the concrete business for years both in Sarasota and Key West, FL. After moving to Sylva, NC he became Director of Transportation for the city. He then retired and moved back to Florida to manage his daughter and son-in-law’s shopping center in Sarasota. He and Joan missed the mountains and returned back to Sylva for 9 years. Jim once again worked for the city, until he was 85 years old. He loved everyone and never met a stranger. Finally in 2017 Jim and Joan returned to Florida.
He was predeceased by his parents. Left to cherish his memory: his wife, Joan; daughters: Amy Mahers (William), Susan Cooper (Edward), Malinda Pardo (Huvi); and step-daughter, Heather Mueller (Karl), 5 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and one great, great granddaughter. Very special friends: Frank Toppino (Key West, FL) and Donald Green (Sylva, NC). Burial will be at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL. Wednesday, May 11th at 2 PM. Cremation entrusted to Fero Funeral Home, Beverly Hills, FL.
