Karen Doreen Fero

Karen was born in Chicago, IL to Herbert and Frances Gustafson. She went to high school at Calumet High. She went on to earn 2 years of college at Miami-Dade Community College in Funeral Service.

She was the owner/operator of Fero Funeral Home for 31 years. Karen enjoyed travelling the world with family and friends. She loved fashion and interior decorating. She especially loved St. Augustine Beach. Karen was involved in the Dunnellon Women's Club and Tampa Book Clubs.

Karen is survived by her son Shane and Sallie Fero of Penland, NC, daughter Kim and Mike Richie of Hernando, FL, and son Lanse and Carina Fero of Lecanto, FL, grandchildren Allison and Mark of Orlando, FL, Devon and Nate Brickhouse of Ashville, NC, Chad and Lauren Richie, Rae and Seth Richardson of Inverness, FL, Brock, Mia, Jace Fero of Lecanto, FL; great grandchildren Bradley and Gabriel Laera of Orlando, FL, Cash, Wylder and Ellie Richie, Austyn and Tuff Richardson of Inverness, FL, niece Lynn and Larry Johnson of Kimberling City, MO, nephews Dale and Cathy Gustafson of Houston, TX, and David and Julie Gustafson of Belvidere, IL.

She is predeceased by her husband Orlando "Lanny" Fero, parents Herbert and Frances Gustafson, daughter Sherlene Jane Fitzgerald, and brother Donald Gustafson.

Visitation will be held on September 3, 2026 at 10:00 am at Fero Funeral Home & Life Celebration Center, 5955 North Lecanto Highway, Beverly Hills, FL.

Funeral Service will be held on September 3, 2026 at 11:00 am with Rev. Mo Driscoll officiating at Fero Funeral Home & Life Celebration Center.

Committal Service will be held on September 3, 2026 at 12:00 pm at Fero Memorial Gardens, 5891 North Lecanto Highway, Beverly Hills, FL.
